Also known as: "everything that is important."
Venue
Contact us at brainhack@psychoinformatics.de for anything related to this event.
The event will take place on the main university campus in Magdeburg. We have multiple hack rooms with solid wireless and wired network access.
- G28-026 (WLAN, LAN)
- G28-027 (WLAN, LAN, projector, speakers)
- G23-004 (WLAN, blackboard)
- G23-K11 (WLAN, blackboard)
- G23-K12 (WLAN, whiteboard)
- G29-307 (WLAN, LAN, projector)
The weather will be great; there is a park right around the corner, and places to relax and get some fresh air right outside the buildings.
Most importantly, there are at least two dedicated coffee bars nearby that will help you find the exact type of caffeine source that you need to crank out all that scientific output goodness.
Sponsors
The following businesses and organizations have generously provided funding and administrative support. Please take the time to visit their websites, and give them a virtual high-five for supporting us. Their contributions have been essential for making BrainHack Magdeburg a reality.
Schedule
The event will start Thursday afternoon with introductions and a get-together. All day Friday and Saturday are dedicated to hacking on projects, with tutorials and break-out/unconference sessions happening as needed. Early-evening on Saturday, there will be a wrap-up session with a short presentation from each project on their achievements.
Due to the nature of the event, the schedule is flexible and can change frequently. To stay up-to-date, you can subscribe to a Google calendar.
Alternatively, you can use the free and open source Giggity App that is available for Android devices. Just install it from F-Droid or Google Play, and scan this QR code from inside the app:
Accommodation
Attendees will organize their accommodations individually. Magdeburg offers a range of places to stay. Here are two affordable options:
If you are a sucker for an opulent breakfast, take a look at the Maritim, but you gotta pay the price.
Transportation
While Magdeburg does have an airport, most people will want to fly into either Leipzig (LEJ) or Berlin (BER). From there, direct trains are available to Magdeburg, and take between 1.5 hours (LEJ) and 2 hours (BER).
Otherwise, Magdeburg is easy reach from all directions — by train or by car (A2 and A14).
On Thursday, the event will take place at the Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology on the Medical Campus. You can reach the Medical Campus from the main train station or the city center using the tram lines 6 and 9. The stop name is Universitätsklinikum.
On Friday and Saturday, we will be at the Main Campus. The main venue and all accommodation options mentioned above are within walking distance. If you want to get around the city, trams and buses run regularly around the city.
